CONDITIONS OF SERVICE IN THE RUSSIAN CONTINGENT (E)
OF THE HONG KONG POLICE FORCE.
(1) The engagement is for a period of three years, the first six months of
which will be on probation as a recruit, the Inspector General of Police
may, at his own discretion, discharge any recruit whom he considers to
be unlikely to make an efficient policeman, or to be unfit for the
service for any other reason. The person engaged, if originally enlisted
in Shanghai, will be entitled upon such discharge, or on completion of
the said period of engagement, to a 2nd. or intermediate class passage
to Shanghai.
(2)
In the case of me n enlisted in Shanghai, half pay will be drawn from
the date of commencement of journey from Shanghai to the date of
arrival in the Colony. Free steamship passages 2nd. or intermediate
class will be provided to Hong Kong.
(3) (a) With permission of the Government a constable may be re-engaged
for further periods of three years, in which event he is entitled, at
the end of each period of three years, to three months leave on full
pay. In urgent cases one month's leave may be granted after one year's

(b) Second or intermediate class passages to Shanghai will be
provided by Government, the steamers to be selected by the Government, to
Officer proceeding on leave (or on termination of service).
(e) During the year in which leave is taken and the preceding year
any leave taken other than leave on medical grounds will be deducted
from the three months full pay leave.
